OK. Let’s jump into the topic.
Blog Goal setting for beginner’s:
Goal means a target that needs to be achieved in a specific period.
For example,” I need to get rid of one of my bad habits by this year”. This is my goal for this year.
Here the ultimate goal is – get rid of one bad habit. And the timeline is one year.
Similarly, you need to set your blog goal for a specific period.
Why do I need to set goals for my blog.?
If you are doing blogging as a hobby, you don’t worry about your goals, because this is your hobby.
But if you are very serious about your blog as a business or full-time career, you have proper goals and plan to achieve this.
Setting goals, plan for that goal, and working towards a goal makes you run your blog as easier.
Setting Goal → Planning for achieving each Goal → Put your work on each planned task → achieve your planned task on time → achieve your goal on time → Grab your success fruit.
I have listed a few benefits of setting a goal
- You know what will be the outcome. To get that result, you need to work on it,
- The target is visible, and you are taking steps towards it.
- You have a proper plan, you will not get stressed.
- You will get motivated on each success of your goals.
- You will get to know about yourself.
- Increase your time management skills
- Increase your productivity
Ok. Let’s jump into set our goal.

Goal Planner for Beginner’s:
Write your Quote :
Write your inspirational quotes here. Which gives you the motivation and remember your purpose of starting a goal.
“Hard work never fails”
“Make it simple”
“ A dream written down with a date is called ‘Goal’
A goal broken down into steps become a plan
A plan backed by Action makes your dream come true.”
“Every success as you see now is a goal, plan, and action of the past.
Set your Long Term Goal :
A long term goal is something you want to accomplish in the future. Long term goals can be called as the ultimate aim of you in the future. This needs time and a plan for several years. And this cannot be done in a week or within a year.
In blogging goal planning, this is going to be your aim. Ask yourself with these 5 questions when you are planning for your Long term goal.
- What do you want to achieve with your blog after 5 years?
- Where will your blog stand after 5 years?
- Why you have started a blog?
- What is the period required to achieve the ultimate aim of your blog?
- Whether you are very serious about your blog?
Answer to these questions will lead you to your long term goal. Make sure about your blogging purpose in the list.
Example: Long term goal
Aim: My long term goal is to replace my job income and become financially independent.
Period: 5 years.

Set your Short Term Goal:
These goals are also called a mid-term goal. You need to break it down your long term goal into many short term goals.
I will suggest you that focus more on your short term goal for the first year of blogging.
As you see my long term goal was the generic aim. Now I have to set my short term goal more specific to my blog.
While creating your short term goal, you need to more concentrate on below things.
As a beginner, you need to grow your traffic, engaged audience, email list. Then automatically you will see growth in your earning.
- Your blog traffic
- Blog content
- Email list
- Earnings
- Your product – printable or service or course
Set modest numbers to the above, because beginner’s growth will be gradual.
So these are your short term goal with a period of one year. Once you have set this goal and work on it, you will see your performance, commitment, experience to the blog.
Based on this you can plan for next year.
Here are some examples of my short term goals of the year. I need to achieve these things within one year of my blogging journey.
- Your blog traffic – Overall – 20k pg/month
- Blog content – 60 posts
- Email list – 500 subscribers
- Earnings – overall – $2000 and get monthly $300
- Your product – 3 Freebies, One Free course
Some of these goals may be achieved by nine months. Make sure that, you have data to compare your progress based on the month, quarter, and year.
With the help of this, you can plan for next year aka next short term goals.
Set your Milestones:
Milestones are the ones, more focused on your targeted action plans.
Yes. This is going to be the actual plan of your blogging goal. How you are going to achieve your short term goals.
You need to split your short term goals into milestones.
You can create 3 or 4 milestones for each short term goal.
For example, I have created 3 milestones for my email list short term goal.
Here are my milestones for email list:
I need to get my first 100 subscribers within the first milestone.
On the second milestone, I need to get another 200 subscribers.
On the third milestone, I need to get another 200 subscribers.
This will result in 500 subscribers at the end of the year and I will achieve one short term goal.
Even you can split milestones into action plans i.e. tasks. On completing each task, you will closer to reach your milestone. You check your progress by completing each milestone.
This will give you the motivation, inspiration to work on more.
If you didn’t achieve your milestone, don’t worry.
Analyse your strategy, progress, mistakes. Based on this slightly alter your plan to overcome the failure one as well as the next milestone.
Setting up your tasks:
These come under milestone. This is the daily or weekly plan/ work allocation/ task of each milestone.
This is going to be your daily work to achieve your milestone.
As a beginner, you may not know about daily tasks that need to follow to achieve your milestones.
But when you start to record these things, it may help you to analyze the performance growth and your experience.
For example, my first milestone for the email list is to achieve 100 subscribers.
For that I need to do tasks like create a freebie, pin creation for freebie, promoting in different social media.
Similarly, I have an action plan, I have to work on that to achieve my milestone.
You can check out this post for first month planning for this blog.
Final thoughts here,
When you have started the blog as business, make sure that you have proper goal and plan.
Plan may change but goal doesn’t.
- Set your goals both long term and short term.
- Create your own milestone, You can take a look at other planing methods as a reference.
- Create Action plans based on your timing.
- Work towards your small task which leads you to the milestone → Goal.
